Job Summary:

We are seeking to hire a Community Outreach Coordinator to lead our public engagement efforts and grow our residential program participation. The Community Outreach Coordinator will:

  • Grow engagement with QCC’s residential drop-off program through on-the-ground activities, such as tabling, door-to-door outreach, and presenting at community events.
  • Energize residents around the power and benefits of composting, and the composting options available to them (including backyard composting and community composting).
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, residents, and stakeholders to ensure inclusive participation in program activities.
  • Work with the QCC team and partners to set up and implement residential compost drop-off pilot programming, including identifying pilot neighborhoods and connecting with community stakeholders.
  • Participate in developing organizational sales and marketing strategies, and assist with commercial sales and marketing activities, as needed.
  • Work with the QCC team and partners to continue to envision the possibilities and actionable steps of growing local composting networks.
  • Envision the long-term goals and activities of this role, beyond grant funding, to help grow QCC and the composting network in Cincinnati.

We are seeking an enterprising, engaging, and responsible individual to join our team. In the Community Outreach Coordinator role you will be a charismatic educator, reliable team player, creative thinker, and action-oriented visionary. You will perform a wide variety of duties and interact with a broad range of stakeholders. This role is designed for someone who has an enthusiasm for inspiring behavioral change, can reliably self-direct their day-to-day activities to meet project goals, thrives in dynamic work environments which require regular public engagement, and can envision the big picture while remaining grounded, realistic, and hopeful in the steps to get there.

We are looking for someone ready to jump into the role running. This role is funded through grant support through spring 2026, with the goal to build capacity over the next year and a half to support this role (with potential for full-time work) once grant funding ends.

QCC is a growing worker-owned cooperative. We are a small team with a passion for the work we do. As a small team, we wear (and sometimes share) multiple hats, and this role may involve some periodic flexibility in duties. Self-management is essential for this role, as is the ability to dynamically work within the team.

  • Proven experience growing program and community engagement.
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about composting, waste reduction, local agriculture, and/or equitable community development, or highly energized about learning about these topics.
  • Has a commitment to their local community, and is excited about the activities and potential for this role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-directed and able to independently initiate and complete tasks, as well as identify day-to-day tasks needed to complete the role responsibilities.
  • Quick learner able to dive into project objectives and role responsibilities with enthusiasm.
  • Able to travel between various neighborhoods in the same day.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has a network of relationships with community stakeholders, liaisons, and organizers in Cincinnati.
  • Interested and energized by the worker-owner cooperative business model and democratic organization.
  • Experience working with grants, meeting grant deliverables and deadlines.
  • Educational background in communications, marketing, sales, or related fields, or 3+ years of related professional experience.

Submit for consideration as soon as possible. Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis, but apply by October 8th for preferred consideration. Position available until filled, with ideal start in October 2024.

Benefits:

  • PTO
  • Mileage or bus pass reimbursement
  • Option to become a Worker-Owner after 6 months

Compensation: $22/hour for 20 hours per week.
